Massacre of the Marmalade

$300.00
Sold Out

I occasionally get self-conscious that I’m not doing anything “new”—that everything I’ve done has been done before (another still life?). But then I realize there is a reason tradition is tradition. My desire to be original or unique or revolutionary in someway is misplaced, for what we really need are the same truths told to us over and over again that we may not forget them. We need to slow and notice anew. We are forgetful creatures. So I make marmalade, I taste and see the tart beautiful bright goodness, I study it with a brush—and I remember.

11x14 oil on canvas paper | Due to the unique nature of canvas paper, please don’t hesitate to ask for help with framing.
