This collection features watercolors of culinary creations, inspired by many meals, quick snacks, and feasts around the table with friends. Through and around food, we experiment, we mark seasons, we celebrate, we talk, and we eat. The focus on meals, not mere food, changes the attitude of a home from a place to a gathering. We have been given such variety, glory, and joy in the diversity of potential recipes. Putting creativity into our cooking shows our loving attention to those who are around it—just as Christ does in welcoming us to sup with Him. We are nourished in body and in soul.

The Supper of the Lamb is in part a tribute to one of my most cherished books, from which the collection’s namesake comes. May every bite and every painting be a taste—a reminder—of the final feast to come.

The Supper of the Lamb

“To be sure, food keeps us alive, but that is only its smallest and most temporary work. Its eternal purpose is to furnish our sensibilities against the day when we shall sit down at the heavenly banquet and see how gracious the Lord is. Nourishment is necessary only for a while; what we shall need forever is taste…We were given appetites, not to consume the world and forget it, but to taste its goodness and hunger to make it great.”

- The Supper of the Lamb, Robert Farrar Capon

“Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” - Revelation 19:9
