After Matisse's "Still Life with Apples"
This charming and bright watercolor takes after Henri Matisse’s Still Life with Apples on a Pink Tablecloth, painted in 1924, midway through his bourgeoning art career. Matisse expertly paired a unique composition with variations of the primary colors to create playful visual interest. Though originally painted as an oil painting, I chose to create a study of the work in watercolor, capturing as much of his beautiful looseness as I could.
